Food for Moresca Ball was created by geezer
This post has been approved by James C. Kimball.

As per the section about food donation in the Moresca Ball link, the following apply:

1 - Hot dish (large crockpot) 1 build plus 500 SP

2 - Cold dish (including desserts) 500 SP

There is a limit of one build per person for hot dishes.  The SP has been added this year.

There is no limit to the number of cold dishes one may bring, but we ask that you make them yourself, if possible.  It might be impossible for a baked dish, but at least shoot for a quality bakery if you are buying it.

If you are going to bring something, we really would appreciate knowing in advance so as to avoid people bringing the same thing (apple pie and Swedish meatballs are both wonderful, but it would get tiresome if 5 people decided to bring each dish).

If you are willing to commit to a dish, please message Diane (kleidin) or me (geezer) or, better yet, both of us.  Thank you in advance.

Currently the following have been proposed.  If I spelled your name wrong, I apologize.  If I left you off the list, message me.  If something should be relabeled, message me.  All dishes that are Gluten free and/or for the soulless WILL BE LABELED AS SUCH at the ball.

I will be bringing apple/thyme roasted tofurky.
Ashley will bring a butternut squash soup.

Both dishes will be gluten and vegetarian safe (not vegan due to use of milk in the soup and honey with the Tofurky).

I already messaged Charlie, but I will be brining at least one shepherd's pie (anyone who was in Kaledonia on Friday night knows how those taste, and I promise the potatoes will be hot all the way through this time). I will also be bringing at least one batch of my soon to be famous Highland Truffles.

I will be bringing a crock pot of delicious curry. It can be meat or vegetarian, whatever is needed more. You're keeping tabs on the entries, Charlie, so PM me and let me know which you prefer anytime between now and then.

I'm also planning on bringing a dessert, but I'm not sure what yet. Again, I'll take a niche that hasn't been filled, right now I'm leaning towards oatmeal raisin cookies, so mark me down as that for now. I am curious about one thing though- a batch of cookies and other cold dishes can be in widely varying sizes... what qualifies for one "dish" worth 500 SP? I am to understand there's no upper limit, so I might bring a few.

Lastly, what about beverages? I can make a tasty virgin sangria and even put it in my own bottles if desired. Is this a valid option, and how much SP would it be worth?

We have tofurkey, veggie shepherd's pie, and veggie gnocchi so far.  That being the case, your curry can be meat, as we are doing fine for the soulless.

Non-alcoholic sangria should be served from a crock, similar to Geoff's hot cider, but cold.  That said, how many crockfuls will you be bringing?  Take this off board and message me the response.

As to what qualifies as a dish worth 500 SP, I will quote the late Justice Brennen,  "I cannot define it, but I know it when I see it."  I figure a pie is a dessert worthy of 500 SP (not Mrs Smith's), so figure 5 or 6 dozen cookies.  Keep in mind that although cookies are yummy, there can be adverse IG reactions to that particular offering.

Around mid-week I will post what we have so far.

So long as you bring everything that is needed to heat it, it can be heated there.  Thus, the emphasis on crock pots.

Now, this may sounds like a dumb question, but I don't really have a crock put I can make my shepherd's pies in. Is there any chance however that after the main portion of the dinner has been cooked that I could toss the caserole pans mine come in into the oven for say 20 minutes or so?

If not, I can make other arrangements, but still, just curious.

So it has been ordained: Meat it shall be!

But shall it be chicken, or shall it be beef? This quandary yet remains. Opinions? Anyone who has a preference, send me a message (better not to waste more space on this thread) I will make my choice based on votes taken in this way.

Quinoa (pronounced KEEN-wah) is a grain, not unlike rice.  It's more nutty, like brown rice, but with more of a cous-cous-y texture.  Harvest Quinoa is a dish that uses quinoa as a base, with pieces of various squashes, vegetables, and maybe some apples thrown in for flavor.  It's good. :)
