Action Props Latex Weapons(Question/Opinion wanted) was created by Layn
I have been looking around at different latex weapons, mainly looking for a good durable off-hand weapon that preferably has a good basket hilt/guard. The only place I was able to locate that seems to have a good selection, and also isn't uber amounts extra for a guard; was Action Props by Arty Fakes:
www.artyfakes.co.uk/LARP-Weapons.html
Was wondering if anyone has used any of there weapons, and can give me their opinion on them; mainly as far as durability, as my off hand will end up taking a good amount of hits. But also on other factors such as weight, and what not.
Thanks,
Eric

I really like these actually. I've borrowed a few of them and they handle great. They are much better main hand weapons weapons than off hands because they are extremely light. Also, their basket hilts may look cool, but they're incredibly flimsy.

Cool, that's exactly the info I was looking for. Thank You, Liam
Looks like ill be going with a Calimacil as my off hand(and probably just wear gloves, cause their couple models with guards are quite expensive, and not really the look I wanted). Still debating about what to use in my main hand...

Yes. Make them do custom weapons.

I'm trying dammit!
What do you people want more, custom weapons or 42" blunts? I'm doing my best on the latter...

A 60" spear would be nice, but I agree with Rob. If Calimacil did custom weapons I'd get one in a heartbeat.

I'll disagree with that. They would be excellent for Clergy. Currently, there's the Scrow (which is short) and one other mace in the 1HB range, if I am correct. An honest to goodness bludgeoning hammer and traditional cleric's mace would be awesome.

If you want a blunt weapon, you can get one made custom.
Them making blunt weapons doesn't satisfy my need for a custom weapon.
Therefore, they need to make custom weapons.

In all seriousness, something to point out here - Calimacil's designs all are made on the basis that they are A) made from a mold, and
intended to be mass-produced. Their market niche is specifically NOT custom or made-to-order items - that is the strength of Ateliers Nemesis and Iron Liege. Asking them to make custom weapons would be akin to asking someone to hand-craft 20 identical latex swords - you're asking them to do something that other people can do easier, and you can get done better somewhere else, most likely. You don't go to a KFC to order a Whopper, or to Burger King to order a bucket of chicken.
I like Calimacil - they make excellent foam weapons, and I think they are ideal for arming NPCs or PCs who don't want custom high-end latex. No one else matches their capacity to do this, not even the vendors that batch-produce basic / stock weapons.
