New but with a question

Hi,

     My name is Eric and i will be attending this event but i have a question that my seasoned KR friend couldn't answer for me.  what are the rules in regards to pommel striking?  i know it is the way in which you waylay however i was wondering if it was allowed in standard combat as well?  i will be using a boffer weapon with the 4" pommel with the 2" open cell tip if it makes a difference.
