You can always change your costume.. but it's often a good idea to go with some kind of color combo that stays similar... it will help keep the identity of your character in people's minds, and give a hint that when you aren't wearing that color, you might be NPCing, or a different character.
But that's just my $.02... there are people who have a more varied clothing line for their characaters than I do.

I would recommend a change in clothing, if you can afford it, because in the summer, you sweat through it, in the winter, your clothing can get wet with mud and snow, and really, the only characters I've ever known who don't change clothes are my Sims.
As a gypsy, I like to have several different options, because I love color, but it's all up to you.

Rather than wearing the exact same clothes (for all the reasons mentioned), you might consider an accessory that stands out to signify "I am playing (x) character" - like Kate's smashing hat, for example

Unless you play the kind of character who's identity you don't necessarily WANT kept in people's minds
"Ok we can attack... but if we miss, we'll hit the villagers."
"I'm willing to take that chance!"
Things I am no longer allowed to do in an RPG :
31. The backup trap handler is not whoever has the most HP at the time.
73. Not allowed to name my cudgel Ceremonial Whoopass Stick.
74. My thief's battle cry is not "Run And Live"

Shhhh! Don't tell us that! Remember to read the rogue rules on the website :-x
If you want no one to know IG, don't let anyone know OOG!
(even if not an actual thief or assassin, I think this applies for anyone!)
