New to knight realms

Hey guys. So this is the first time I'm LARPing, June 1 week, and I'm looking forward to it. Just wondering is there any tips you guys can give me. (Both NPCing and Creating a character) I'm thinking about NPCing for this first weekend.

If I really get into it I have a character in the making. As my name says I have an Sylvan elf type character in mind and he's an archer but past that can anyone give me any ideas. I'm kind of new at all of this (Making weapons, Costuming, Writing a Backstory, etc.). Is there anytime during the weekend you guys help noobs?

Any advice you guys can give would be awesome.

If you're planning on coming to the whole week, why not try finding someone between periods on Friday afternoon? It's technically going to be a hold until lay-on again that evening, so even if people are garbed up, we can talk turkey OOG, and there will likely be a few more people around who can give you advice, too.

Welcome Conor!!  Npcing is a great way to learn about the game.  In between send outs people talk at logistics.  You can ask questions then.

The only advice I think I could give would be to follow your gut and think "what would my character want".  Sometimes, the answer may surprise you (like how I didn't realize my scholar wanted to learn 13 languages in 5 events).  Personally, I'd recommend taking some type of melee weapon for when your either out of ammo or , and a good amount of body because Elves only start with 2.  Personally, I'd probably do Bow (Free with Sylvan), 1HE (3), Ranged Proficiency +1 in Bow (4 from racial), Literacy (1), 2 into Body (+4 BP),  if you are going with the 10 starting build.

Thanks for that info. I was actually thinking of doing a one or two dagger(s) on my waist (in case I run out of arrows or need to go close range for an odd reason)  but I wasn't sure what to go with.

Any other advice besides go with your gut? I mean I haven't been there yet to see other stuff IG but I'm trying to get an overall idea on what I want to do and I'm a little lost as to what type of clothing and armor Sylvan Elves wear.

I'm also trying to decide between a hip or back quiver. Back would be easier. However I think it would be harder to pull the boffer arrows out. Where a hip would be easy to draw but hard to move in.

You did exceptionally well for your first time out. Took you a little bit to come out of your shell but by the end of it you had a good grip on things. It was definitely fun Obi-Wan'ing you around all week. If there's anything else you want to know as far as stuff we talked about, just message me.
