A long time ago, at a campsite far, far away... was created by GJSchaller
... there was another LARP called "Fantasy Explorers," or FX for short. It ran at Camp Conklin in the mid to late 90s, and was in some ways a predecessor to Knight Realms.
I recently dug up a bunch of old photos from that game - some veterans of KR may know these people:

Pretty much, yeah. There's a handful of people out there who either would have their jobs wrecked if their clients saw them on the KR site, or actually cannot appear anywhere online by law (People who work for agencies that have sensitive positions, like the nuclear regulatory commission. No, I'm not kidding on that one. That individual is no longer at the game, but we still censor his name to be safe).
Back to the task at hand - do you actually know any of these guys, Noah?

Only person I recognize is Pete, who I met at EQ (Equinox) when he played Altarus. There's also a guy and a woman named Patricia who looks familiar to me, but I can't say for sure if I know them.

From what I know, it is the same character... EQ allows for experienced LARPers who really loved their characters to "transfer" them to EQ. The character automatically starts off at 5th level (or given 50 build to make as close an approximation of the character) in exchange for having less "ressurections" or "lives". It's a way for them to attract players who really loved their chracters. It's an interesting premise and does allow for them to recruit players in a way that pulls on the heart strings. Not a bad deal.. plus, they do give up "lives" for it, so it is kinda balanced.
Anyway, I've heard stories about Conklin... some good and some bad. Worse on ankles but very rustic and IG looking... from Geoff's pictures, that small cabin does look nice. No obvious OOG drapings or components that detract from the experience. Is Conlin still even available as a camp for LARP events? So far, I've only been to Sac, Daddy Allen, and Shehaqua. I know there was the 1 day at the other camp with the mini-golf (Rickabear?)... any other camps we are going to try for?

Conklin is WAY too small to hold KR - it's smaller than Sac by far. Also, the trappings are not very good - the parking lot is right next to the Inn and plainly visible from the front door & porch of it, and the Inn is plastic fold-up tables & chairs, at least when I was there last (and I doubt the Boy Scouts changed up for us LARPers). I just avoided gratuitous OOG shots with my camera.

I don't know anyone in the picture, but most of the people I meet every day are criminals, so that's probably for the best.

Yeah, as much as I loved Conklin, KR outgrew it in like a year. It slept like half of what Sac does. Not to mention the fact that there was ZERO space for main mods other than the gravel parking lot in front of the inn around everyone's cars.
Ahh the good ol' days.

In many ways, Conklin is like your first boffer sword you made yourself. It's awesome, it's your first one, your beginning memories of LARPing are tied to it... and eventually you replace it with something better. Then a latex one comes along. If Conklin is that first boffer, Hickory Run is an Iron Liege Glow-Wire latex weapon.

Seeing pictures of Adam M. and Patty O. brought back memories for me. Mostly from the Nexus, and Adam as a large dragon, being scared of a bird somewhere in the neighborhood of four magnatudes of order smaller than him.

I see the old KR Truck in the background, and I think that is my old Dodge Lancer beside it.
