Do you like comic books, video games, and celebrities?  Are you able and willing to help set up and clean up for a massive (100+ invited guests) VIP party at a fabulous mansion in Philadelphia on Saturday May 31st?  Then, we need your help!

I'm the volunteer coordinator for an "invitation only" VIP party that will promote networking between the worlds of comic books, video games, television and film.  It will be held at a mansion in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.  I'm looking for volunteers to help set up and take down this wild party.  Some of you may be asked to dress in your finest KR costumes and bring your latex weapons so as to introduce the world of Knight Realms to the gathered guests.  The party sponsors include:
  • Big City Comics
  • NBC10
  • Videogame Expo (VGXPO)
  • DigPhilly
  • World Champion Wrestler "The Smoke"

Volunteers can expect a big bag of swag and other goodies such as autographed comics.  We'll need to meet at least once before the event to get organized.  The party starts at 8PM, so we'll start setting up at around 6PM.  Since they're serving alcohol, all volunteers need to be 21 or over.

I'm sure we'll get a bunch of new KR members out of this event!  Get ready to show off the world of Knight Realms for the gathered celebrities.  If you're interested...
Send a PM to James!

Please feel free to post or PM me with any questions.  Thanks very much for helping out.  This should be a BLAST.

Do the volunteers get to be guests once the party begins, or will they be tasked with serving the event in addition to set up and clean up? The post is a little ambiguous.

We'll help set up, but during the party we get to mingle and have fun (no serving).  Vols will take turn assisting guests finding the bathrooms and greeting and such.  Nobody will get stuck all night doing one thing.  We're part of the party...lots of pictures with guests.  The big push will come at the end of the night when we need to break down the kiosks/tents/etc.  Thanks for the question.

Boo, all of that sounded awesome up until the "you have to be 21" thing. I live ten minutes out of the city and would have loved to help out. Good luck in your volunteer search!  :)

After a closer look at the "rules," the folks in charge have reconsidered!  It was pointed out to them that people as young as 19 are allowed to tend bar, so they've lowered the minimum age to 19.  Any KR members who are at least 19 years old are now encouraged to volunteer.

Please PM James if you are still interested.  Hope you can attend!  Thanks for your help.

Don't worry about the costumes... only a few KR will be in costume.  The rest of us will be, uh, "uniform," with a nice black shirt so we'll be identifiable as helpers.  I'll need to get the final list by Friday, so don't delay, PM James today!

Thanks in advance to everyone for helping out.  It'll be a wild night!

Can you clarify uniform "black shirts" for me?  Do you mean you'll be giving us shirts to wear that are all the same, or should people wear black t-shirts, or can it be any black shirt?  I have T-shirts, nice party tops, and button up shirts all in black, but I need to know whats appropriate.

Which brings up the next question - casual, semi-casual, or formal?

That's a good point, I'm also curious about this!

Here's the word: come as you are (informal) with a black t-shirt when not in costume.  Wear something that you'd like to have photographed with the TV star.  For a bit more info on who's put together this event, visit The Smoke's MySpace page:

He's very interested in KR, and would like to attend with his 14-year-old daughter!  I wonder what kind of player he'd choose to be........... :)

Thanks very much for everyone who's volunteering.  Details will be sent to all volunteers shortly.
