So a slightly strange question, how many bars of silver would it take to either make or coat anywhere between 30-50 feet of string or yarn in silver?

Follow up: Will touching silver (in this case silver string) cause a roleplay pain effect on lycans who haven’t transformed or true warlocks?

These are questions that I cannot answer and you will need to ask the specific marshal you are dealing with. Roleplay effects are determined case by case by the marshal or ST overseeing the encounter and if you are crafting something for a plot, they will tell you what you need to do.

Specifically regarding the second question, you cannot use "roleplay effects" in that vein unless you have a rule such as a Cantrip that says you can, or a marshal allows you to on an enocunter they are running.
