Weather for the November 2013 event

Folks, winter isn't coming... It's here! Despite the unseasonably warm weather the past few events, this one is a sharp contrast - it will be 60, at most, during the day, and down to the low 40s (if not lower) at night.

What this means:

PACK MANY WARM, DRY LAYERS. Thermals, spare socks, cloaks, gloves, hats, scarves, etc.

Bring appropriate bedding.

Keep hydrated. You can still dehydrate in the cold.

Keep an eye out for Hypothermia both in yourself, and your friends. If someone stops shivering or suddenly doesn't feel cold, get them to safety immediately.

Luckily, the chances of rain are low, but be prepared for it, just in case.

Did we mention socks?

SOCKS! But don't forget about your hands. I suggest gloves as well.

If only they made some kind of socks, just for hands.

They do. Pat Malone, aka Sujimichi, knits them and brings them to Market Faire.

I believe those are called mittens.

Fun stuff...

I cannot stress enough that everyone should drink water- dehydration makes Hypothermia onset that much faster...

As mentioned by others, wear layers, be sensible about how you are feeling and drink water. If someone ain't acting/feeling right, say something. Better safe than sorry.

Let me also restate: hypothermia and dehydration are not fun and ER staff get confused if you come in to the ER with both.. I do know that for fact.
