Maybe some of these should help?

Glowing Arrow Nocks

I have no idea if these would work in the boffer arrows people use, but hey, it's worth a shot.

The IDV arrows some archers use come with Glow-In-The-Dark fletchings... The trick is keeping them charged long enough to last overnight, which is hard.

It's a good idea, they just fade too quickly, at least until glow technology improves.

Apparently these use batteries and LEDs, and last for 40 hours before they need new batteries, at least going by the product description.  Can't verify it in detail, but the diagrams I've seen look promising.

You can buy them for carbon shafts at the manufacturer's site. I've used them for target shooting in the past. They are the Cadillac of LARP arrows (And proportionately-priced).

Another cheap alternative is to just get glow in the dark paint and do streaks on the shaft.  Like Geoff said, it doesn't last that long, but it's better than nothing.

that would be interesting if you had arrows that did a certain damage type... such as red ones for fire, green for earth... and so on... great... now you are giving me ideas!

Personally I'd rather see a battle where the good guys have red nocks and the bad guys have green nocks and main mod turns into Star Wars.

Don't make me bring back out the glowing el-wire latex sword.  ;)

Edit: PS. When I used to shoot at night, I used the long, thin, necklace type glow sticks & simply taped them along the shaft of my arrows.  Sure, it made them less accurate, but when shooting at night, it was difficult at best to hit my targets. The glow sticks did little to worsen my shots.

I looked into this, but the paint was expensive... and it only lasts like an hour if you're lucky.

Michaels sells basic acrylic craft paint that glows in the dark that's cheap, especially with coupons.  Even if you don't have coupons, I work there and can get it wicked cheap.

Haven't tested it out yet, but I'd imagine not long.  Most things don't unless like with glow sticks, they have a decent amount of the reactive chemicals in them.  Either way, it's an inexpensive possibility that might serve as a backup.  Taping glow sticks to the shaft would likely be the way to go.
