Someone does I'm sure but most of us make up new characters that have never existed in books/video games and tell the story of their lives.

Video game characters pretend to be us...

In all seriousness, Knight Realms has been around since '98, well before World of Warcraft or other MMOs. Live Gaming in general has been around much longer, as far back as the mid 80's at least.

We've gotten a boost in popularity from games like WoW and movies like Lord of the Rings recently, but we are by no means pretending to be anyone else.
