Hey, I'm Joe, I've been looking around at different LARPs and yesterday I ran into a friend of mine he plays Haven but he recommended for my first time I should go to Knight Realms he swears by you guys as far as new players go so I figured I might as well give it a shot.

Now, I am going to bring a friend or two with me and we were worried that we would become either left alone to try and play by ourselves or that we'd be doing it so wrong people would not want to help us get better. Any suggestions would be nice.

Oh and As far as a roleplaying background I play dnd, I'm a thespian, me and my friend are both freshman in college, I'm a big fan of acting and was hoping to make a  swashbuckler character. (Is that a good starting character?)

I would recommend reading the rulebook, best place to start.  Plus there will be someone there to help you pick out your skills usually.  If you have any questions just ask, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Thanks guys and yea I checked out the rule book theres alot to it! I looked at the skills and I'm leaning more towards thrown weapons and small weapons I think Also Could I have a staff? Like as a swashbuckler is a staff kinda cliche'?

Essentially, yeah. But you would have to pay 3 build for it because it's on the commoner's list.

If you want something that gets a staff from there list look around at the others.  There are a few that get it to start with.

I actually suggest taking advantage OS the swashbuckler's ability to learn florentine at first level. When I started, I had 1h edge, small, florentine, as well as literacy and advanced literacy, thus allowing me to use scrolls. Also try to learn parry as soon as possible, defense skills are never a bad thing to have.
