Hi, everyone! ^^ was created by Katie
Hello! My name is Katie, and my SUNY Purchase friends have finally talked me into coming to an event, so I'll be there at A Week in the Life on Wednesday! I'm considering playing a human Celt priestess of Andorra, is there anything special I should consider for costuming for this? Can't wait to meet you all, I'm sure the event is going to be amazing!!

Hello Katie and Welcome!
Costume, if you're a Celt try to primarily base of that idea, however as a Priestess you may want to add small little other things that show your profession outwardly. There are a lot of small things that really turn a dress into a costume after all.
If you have any questions you would like to ask feel free to PM me and I will be happy to get back to you asap!
Thanks!

Welcome to the Boards!
For a Celt Andorran I'd say your necessities are some tartan fabric (as a kilt/longer skirt, dress, or barring either, at least a sash) and something with a rose on it (as a rose is Andorra's holy symbol). Otherwise, if you're starting from scratch, keep it simple and bring some changes of clothes for the week - lots of socks, definitely.
See you in a week (or so)!

Welcome to the community!
Another good thing that can't hurt is some woad (blue makeup). Then again I don't know many Andorrans with battle-paint.
Also: Bring extra socks.

Seriously, extra socks. You'd be surprised how many you can go through. And comfortable shoes. I've always been of the mindset that the shoes make the costume.

Bah! Kwildar's worn woad before. Ask Chris Z.
Welcome, always good to see some more people trying the hard path.
Seriously though.... As much time as many of us have spent upon our costumes, we all started somewhere. A simple top and a tartan skirt are a good place to start. It'll be late may/early june so you won't have to worry about too many layers (Though bringing something warm is never a bad idea. Even in the summer, there can be times when the camp will feel surprisingly cold at night)
As for something to denote your character's faith... There are many jewelry kiosks at ren faires that will sell rose/flower pins for ten dollars or so. I'd also recommend getting in contact with Sharone (She plays Ahlmat, the Kitieran Chroniclerite priestess/scholar) as she makes some excellent jewelry from clay, highly customized work at very reasonable prices.
Michaels, and stores of its ilk will also sell costume jewelry pendants for a few dollars that look quite nice.

Thank you all so much! I think I've got a good idea of what to do, and you all seem so nice and helpful! ^^ I do have another question, though: what should I do about food for the week? I'm not much of a camper, so I have absolutely NO idea what to bring! xD

I should have muffins made that I will be selling for IG money during the week, since it is your first time the first one is free.

Ah! That's a great idea! I think I'll make some, too! Would there be a place to keep food cold in the cabins, or am I thinking too "creature comforts?"

I won’t have to kill you if you don't edge in on my market on muffins
. There is a fridge in the monastery and the inn, but you have to get permission to use the one in the inn I think.

Yet another Kate with a Gluten Intolerance? Wow, that's 2 at KR, 3 I know...
You can always drop a line to Luis Case, who goes by the forum name Quan Liu. If you have a dietary need, he'll do his best to accomodate your space needs. If you bring food, BRING IT IN A SEALED CONTAINER WITH YOUR NAME. A lunch bag that zips, a cooler, etc. is good.
There's food nearby, although it's a lot of italian / pizza / bagels. You can stop out quickly, or some will deliver.
Some people also cook IG, and sell the food for IG money or favors (i.e. - you wash the dishes, I'll feed you). This is less scheduled / formal, though, so it's good to have a plan.
