   In Loving Memory Of Ronnie James Dio 1942-2010

   LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Ronnie James Dio, the metal god who replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath and later piloted the bands Heaven & Hell and Dio, has died, according to his wife and manager.

   Dio announced last fall he was suffering from stomach cancer. He was being treated at a Houston hospital, according to his website.

   "My heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m," said a statement by Wendy Dio posted Sunday on the site and confirmed by publicist Maureen O'Connor.

   Wendy Dio said that friends and family were able to say their goodbyes to her husband, and asked for privacy. She concluded: "Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."

Awesome new tunes from a classic band.  Doesn't sound like a dated grasp to still be relivant to me at all.  This is the real s#!t.

If you haven't heard of Tyr yet, give it a listen.  They're fantastic.  Saw them live in Rochester, and they came out in hand-carved leather armor.  They also do a bitchin' version of the Irish tune "The Wild Rover."

for those that might remember when I posted that all vocal version of Battery a while ago, they're at it again...

Just heard that Peter Quaife, a founding member of the Kinks, died a few days ago.  Not metal, but seminal to its historic formation, I give you a two minute song to which I used to do pushups while in Jr. High.
