Whether you agreed with his politics or not, Mr. Kennedy was a hell of a senator who had no qualms about doing what he felt was right for the nation in the Capitol.

After a long battle with cancer, may he find rest.

My favorite annecdote from the NPR retrospective:

Heckler: "Kennedy, you never worked a day in your life."

TMK "I guess you could say that."

Heckler "You ain't missing anything."

Friends alike (from both sides of the aisle) called him the best legislator there was during heis term in the senate, even if they did not agree with his legislation.
